Did you know that I have more than two children?
I do.
I'm even quite fond of them all.
Admittedly there's a inordinate amount of posting done on some, and relatively few on others.
They tend to guard their privacy in direct correlation to their age.
But- "When the cat's away...."
And one of those cat's is far,
far away.
So far away, that there's no phone service or internet access available.
....which leaves blogging about her WIDE - OPEN.
Jesse's taken a summer job, on a fishing boat, in Alaska.
Here is her home-

And here is our first and only letter describing her new life.
I was thoroughly entertained.
Three months should give her plenty of time to forgive me for posting it:
Hey Family!
How goes it? I figured I would write a letter before work started to let ya'll know I'm alive and well!
I had a dream last night that Dad asked me to give a talk in sacrament right when I got back (from working on the boat). And while I was up speaking I was cursing up a storm and couldn't stop it! I woke up in a sweat.... I was mortified.
How're the storms? Calming down?
So I've been on this boat fora week now just sitting. I've learned a lot of new things for just sitting though. 1. Don't try to squat over a toilet on a moving boat. 2. I've learned more card and dice games in a week than I have in my entire life. 3. It
IS possible to use every single curse word in the sentence, "Can I have a cigarette?"
The ride has been absolutely beautiful though. Very pretty.... but I ran out of batteries on the third day. :( I normally just sit on the bow all day and try to read and watch the mountains; and since the sun didn't set until 11:00 last night our days are pretty long. My favorite comment about this ride though is (I say its my favorite because quite a few say it), "Man I feel like I'm back in prison again." It makes me laugh each time... There are some really good people here though. I've never hung out with a crowd like this for long and I find it very interesting. There really is good in everybody. I really have enjoyed seeing that in people and I've noticed that if you get one on one with anyone of these people they're super fun and interesting, good people. Yet, put them in a group and that's when things get crazy. Yesterday the topic was getting a little sketchy and Justin (the only other BYUI student) put his headphones in. I asked him what he was listening to and he said, "The fall of Lot's wife." Bwahahahahaha... We both just busted up laughing. He's awesome. I'm SO glad he is here and that we got permission to do sacrament on Sunday's!
The food is really, really good and there is a LOT. Wholey smokes! Ha! And there is at least two different kinds of meat for each meal. ....lots of meat... lot's - Definitely three male cooks! Living up in Idaho the only time I would eat meat was at Aunt Marcia's house. I never really cooked with it, so it's a bit much. But they normally have watermelon 3 times a day too :) so I'm good!!
The people are super nice to me too and nobody has been creepy except for one guy, but he got fired before we left for jumping off the boat.
The motion sickness hasn't been bad. I threw up once and felt sick for about a day, but I enjoy the rocking now. Although it does nothing for my coordination skills. I took a chunk of skin out of my forehead on one of the first few days here, looking for cheese down int he tunnel freezers for the cook. I banged my head pretty bad. Then a few day's ago I tripped over a chain and busted open my lip. Now everyone teases me about needing to be wrapped in bubble wrap... and I try to smile and laugh, and pretend that I've never heard
that one before... but my lip really hurts...
We got our job assignments today, my job was... Dang... something. All I know is that it's apparently lame and boring and I'm 3rd shift. Which means 7 pm to 7:30 am. so, yeah :) Should be good...
What else... Oh, haha, I got this guy named Simon to read The Book of Mormon. He's figured out that I only date Mormons. So he's decided to become Mormon.... He gets teased for being my puppy, or the boy stuck in my pocket all the time by the rest of the crew. Poor guy. He doesn't realize that his giant cocktail waitress, sitting in a cocktail glass, tattooed on his back doesn't really float in his favor.
I finished Tale of Two Cities today and the captain gave me two books. One's called, "Renting Lacy" and his cousin wrote it. Apparently it's on being aware of sex trafficking in America? and stopping it of some sort... I don't know. I don't really understand why he gave them to me... But I have them! So... yea...
Yeah! That's the life of a pirate anyways. It's good though. I'm glad I'm here. I think this trip really will help me understand who I am and also being able to see everybody else's life. I've really noticed what a huge blessing it is to grow up in the gospel. Then also realizing to not judge people so quickly.
I've also found it funny that the first few days everyone would curse, and smoke, and talk gross, and stuff like that. But now if they smoke either they will ask me if it bothers me, or they will just get up and move saying, "Oh, I don't want to get smoke all in her face", or they will say, "excuse my language." I find it sweet.
Still, it's a bit lonely and I miss you guys, and I'm always on my toes because I'm scared to be yelled at. so that's never a very comfortable feeling.
But I'm just fine and I feel very lucky to have met good friends here, and knowing I have your guys' support back at home.
But how is the family?
Pal, Calder, and Maddie go to girl and scout camp soon, right?!
Calder I'm getting really excited for you to go to Europe! I'm missing it.
Okay, love you all! And tell Cache and Justin I love them too!
Love,
Jesse
P.S. Made it to Alaska safe!!
P.P.S. Oh, ha. I had a funny one the other day. This guy who has like no teeth, odd sort of fellow guy comes up to me and we were talking and he goes, "Yeah, I figured 3 months is a long time. You're going to be like my sister when this is over, ... or wife."
"Ummmm... Yeah, definitely like a sister."
ooooo....man.....
