Because I'm a little rusty and couldn't think of a beginning,
I thought I'd start this post with a quote that's adorned our living
I thought I'd start this post with a quote that's adorned our living
room wall for the past 8 years,
"Your purpose in life is to find your purpose in life
and give your whole heart to it."
-Buddha
But I was outvoted by two bored kids, laying spread eagle on the couch.
They're desperately trying to stay cool in 118 degree temps
(with a 'real feel' of 122),
and it makes them argumentative, and critical.
Maddie thinks it should start out something more like:
"He was always an odd child..."
Calder argues it should be:
"As a child he liked Panda's and Bamboo;
never realizing the beauty of the Dolphin."
Occasionally, they do make me laugh...
However, I'd hate to hand them the victory that easily.
Instead, we'll scratch the whole intro,
and take a walk down memory lane:
"Your purpose in life is to find your purpose in life
and give your whole heart to it."

Because.....
CACHE IS GOING TO CHINA!
(And I like to think all my hard work back in 2006 had some effect...)
In reality, Calder and Maddie are
much more accurate.
He really has always been an odd one.
And he really did collect pandas, bamboo, and at one time,
a peasant's conical hat.
(He wore said hat in public for three months straight,
and I never again complained about the stupid Gilligan hat above.)
Cache came to me about a month ago,
and said he wanted to do something.
Something besides school.
He wanted a challenge.
He wanted to contribute.
He wanted to learn something that
couldn't be taught in a school.
But.
It would require giving up an honor's scholarship to do it.
(And he knew I was just so darn proud!)
And.
He didn't know what he wanted to do.
And.
Mom was scared.
And.
....well, isn't that enough?
Yes. I thought so too.
But that's when we ran across this ad, from a city near Shanghai:
"Our good school need teacher of English"
And so?
Well.
After much thought, prayer, and fasting
(and being informed that he was 18!);
They're certainly going to get one!
He's taking a crash course of teaching, 'English as a Second Language',
and will apprentice himself out
for room/board/and a small stipend,
near the end of August.
Woohoo for Cache!
Woohoo for China!
Wish him luck!
