Conversation last week:

"Pal, if I see you staring blankly at me one more time, you'll have to go take a nap.
It's summer.
 Being a kid is your job, playing is your career!  You were meant for greatness and success!
Now dig deep and find it.
And while we're on topic, we'd prefer no more magic tricks -
your audience is wearing thin."

 Two hours (of avoided eye contact) later:
  "Hey Mom, could we take a trip to Goodwill?"

Half a day spent making a duct tape flag, a day digging holes in the lawn,
 six -1$ clubs at Goodwill, and countless evening hours since?
 That = Greatness and Success.

But it's the finishing detail of having them find and faithfully wear the hats
 that makes me want to smother their little sweat soaked heads in kisses.
