Learning The Mason - Dixon Line

While the map didn't hold their attention long,

and the old, disintegrating markers weren't that impressive...

Our game - recreating the latter events of it's history
(1800's vs. 1700's) - is now a family favorite.

Rules:
1. The slave must have some sort of leg iron.
-ours was a broom handle, tightly duct taped to one leg.
2. The slave gets a ten minute head start.
3. The slave must make it to the Mason/Dixon Line
(from one end of the 150 acres
to the other end), without getting tagged.
4. There are no rules for the slave owners. They may use
every trick in the book, including the useless dogs.
5. There is just one rule for the slaves. They may only
cross the ice where the water is below their waste...
just in case.
6. Everybody carries a whistle for emergencies, or when you've tagged
the escapee.

I don't think any of us will forget that little history lesson.
Especially those who were caked in ice at the end of the forty-five minute race.
Calder, you can be my Eliza anyday.
Maddie, thanks for helping your less than in shape mama find an easier route.
Pal, you're one good tracker.
Cache,... you stink at this game.
